Predictions?

Post by baltobernie »

The "experts" are all over the map with their Stanley Cup prediction

Definitely won't be the Caps - Boston in April is a completely different team than Boston during the First Season. Some are calling for an upset, but we still can't seem to play 200' for 60 minutes

I'm thinking maybe Philly :?:

Although I like to think the canuckle-heads will be there, I have a difficult time thinking they will get past the secound round. Other teams seem to bring it to another level but the Canucks only play like that for 20-30 minutes a game. Perhaps they have been "rope-a-dope" the past 20 games or so, frustrating bunch, lots of talent but then they run up against a hot goalie.
In the finals... Pits. and Detroit,
I hope I am wrong though.

Just for selfish reasons, I'd love to see the Caps and the Kings in the final ... just so I could go Staples Center and see the Caps in a Stanley Cup game. Would be a long shot for both of them, though. I like Philly and Vancouver in the final.

Will celebrate if the Caps make second round. Will deplete frequent flyer miles to see them if they make it to the finals! Alas, I fear they will Mirlande Wilson me, pretend to be winners, and embarrass the hometown.

I'll be happily amazed if the Kings can make it past the first round. After pissing away the division title the last weekend, I'm not real optomistic

Mark , your wish might come true. The canuckle-heads if they continue to play this way, will be tossed in 4 straight.End of the first and Kings score short handed.. :?
Good on the kings for the hustle and making the best of all the defensive screw-ups. Last game should have been 15 - 2 but Luongo kept it close.

Dang I hate being wrong.... looks like they won't be getting by the FIRST round. Dumb defensive mistakes , 0 for 13 or more on the power play , short handed goals and shots that go straight to Quicks chest will not win any games in the playoffs. Last year was their year.

Not giving my prediction. I am pulling for the Flyers all the way. The year was 1974 and I was a bright eyed 8 year old being pulled through a crowd on Broad street full of blue collar hockey fans smilling in wonder as the occasional steaker darted buy. The biggest thing this Philly kid misses in Texas is the Hockey!!! We would put the trash cans in the street and play hockey or football all day. Funny how the owners of the cars on the street in the 70's accepted the dings end dents the neighborhood kids would dish out daily with not even raising an eyebrow.

Flyers are going toe to toe with the Pens and winning. The game the other night was AWESOME!!! Giroux is on fire. I can't predict!!!! I can hope and pray. If Boucher or Bobrousky can get hot in the goal they have a great shot this year!
Buon giro a tutti! - enjoy the ride!

What a crazy playoff run this year. There's some real hatred between a number of these teams. Ya gotta laugh though at Chicago's reaction over the Torres hit. Even though Hossa had his head down that hit wasn't a targeted hit with intent to injure like the Duncan Keith hit on Sedin, yet Jonathan Toews wants harsher punishment. Perhaps if harsher punishments were handed out and became retroactive, a lot of players would not be speaking out. I'll bet a few of the series (Philly/Pittsburgh, Washington/Boston, Ottawa/NY, Chicago/Phoenix) are going to get even more heated up as the lack of player respect continues to escalate with the anything goes attitude.

that's a BIG contract someone will have to pickup. I'm really shocked the Kings came back in the 3rd period, especially after the way they bungled that pp.

I think the Caps have benefited from the shenanigans around the league. Games are now being called tighter than regular season games, something I've never seen before. We're a much better match for Boston playing straight-up. Six one-goal games? Who woulda thunk?

Disappointing for sure that the Canucks are out. Oh well, gotta pull for the other Canadian team I guess...go Ottawa. I should have gotten into a hockey pool this year. At least then I'd have a different perspective on the progress of other teams. :(
