I have owned the car for 16 years. It has been sitting for 5 years and I just got it going again. I forgot how much fun it is. This is actually my second 85. I just put on new tires and replaced the carpet. I am geting a piant job and new top in the next month.
I have seen posts about an 85.5 model. Does anyone know what VIN the 85.5 starts at? Mine is fairly early. I think they started the 85 year at 6060 and mine is 6089.

Don't know what VIN number the 85.5 model started with, but the easiest way to tell what you have is by looking at your steering assembly. The 85.5 included rack and pinion steering, all Spiders up until them had recirculating ball steering. Also 85.5 added bigger vented front brakes.

Welcome to the forum!
I think another way to tell if you have a 85.5 is if you have 3-bolt fastener pattern on your instrument cluster assembly in addition to having rack-and-pinion steering. Post pics when you get a chance!
