Hi everyone,
Just joined your forum as I have managed to find myself a 1980 Fiat Spider.
Really good site and I've enjoyed all the topics thus far. Really looking forward to getting to know my little spider and I think I've picked a beauty. Only has 30800 mies on it and all the evidence points to it being genuine!!
Be great to hear from you guys and thanks for accepting
Best regards,
Craig
Ps
Can't imagine my roof will be down much...... I live in (not so sunny) Scotland! Lol.

Hello from the colonies..
Welcome to the forum. Great place for everything Fiat and sometimes other stuff as well. Is the 80 FI or an early carb'd model?
As for the top up or down with a bit of that "Scottish mist" that appears from time to time..a healthy pace will have those droplets up and over the wind sceen no problem
I belive there are others on the forum from the rock both north and south of "the wall" . Going to keep left hand drive?
Chris

Welcome, Craig! Where in Scotland are you? My roots go back to the Highlands - Banff and Banchory. We're going to do a family trip to the Auld sod in a couple of years. Keep that Fiat in shape!! That "olive" green might be grigio fumo - which is the same as my '80 Fi.
Cheers,
Bruce

Thanks for the welcome everyone,
To answer previous,
Yes it's FI and I am definitely keeping her as a 'left hooker" as I don't want to detract from the originality, forgot to mention, she has auto trans! I might change to manual as I have all parts to complete, but again I'm happy to keep as is. We will see.
It's about so much more than buying a little classic sport car, for me its about sharing the experiences it will bring with my son and bringing me some contentment.
I'm an ex biker and sold my Ducati (I love everything Italian) to fund it.
Thanks again for the good wishes folks

Just looked at your car on your profile..... Exactly the same colour of body and roof as mine. I really like the colour, it's quite classic looking

My wife and I circumnavigated the Isle of Skye a few years ago - in a Ford Focus. What a great ride it would be in a Spider!!
