Hello everyone, I've recently bought a '74 spider that was someone's stalled project and am in the process of getting it back on the road. So far a quick carb rebuild has it running, but I'm waiting on the '74-specific wiring diagram to arrive before I can really put everything back together. Lurking on this forum has already been very helpful.
Anyway, just figured I'd introduce myself... hope everyone has a great weekend!

Welcome. There are a lot of very knowledgeable folks here so ask your questions. This forum has already saved me a ton of cash and a whole lot of worry hours as problems were quickly diagnosed. Also post pictures when you can of your car(s). Do a search on this forum for how to post pictures.

I second that! I can't calculate how much money I have saved based upon the great info gleaned from this forum! (Which was promptly spent on other great Spider stuff) <{:^)

Re: Hi from Portland, OR
Thanks everyone. I love a good forum; it seems like these days you don't even need a shop manual anymore since there's so much good info online. I'll post pics eventually; I hope to have the car on the road by the end of this coming weekend. Thanks for the link to the site with all the wiring diagrams... I don't see one on there for '74, but there's tons of other great info, and I've got a '74 specific diagram coming in the mail soon anyway, so I should be fine.
I also built an electronic distributor this weekend out an old points-style one from a Spider I found at the junkyard, a pickup and reluctor from an 80's Toyota, a GM 4-pin ignition module, and a BMW 325e coil (I love tinkering and junkyard engineering). It works great on the bench but I haven't installed it yet. It looks like plenty of people have done similar stuff, but I'll try to write up the process when I have time in case it'd be useful to anyone (assuming it works in the car too).
thanks again, glad to be on board here...
