Hello From Rust Belt N.E.Ohio

Post by Keruth »

Just Bought an 81 2000, FI. Looking For All That Good Knowledge You Folks Share.
I'll Start By Asking "What Is The Correct Wheel/Tire Size on The 124's?"
Bought It At Carlisle Show, Drove It Back 350 mi. and The Odo Says 410, Yikes!

Thanks For Having Me.

The stock tire were 165srx13,mounted on 13''x 5''(?) wheels. Many are now running on 14'' and 15'' wheels and tires. My 205/50x15 tires are almost exactly the same height as the stock 13'' spare. No speedo error. The wheel are an odd 4x98 bolt pattern,so wheels are a little bit of a challenge. The moderator here,SoCalMark, has a good selection of beautiful wheels.Welcome to the forum!

Thanks for the Welcome,
Tire Rack claims 185-60-14 as the standard tire for this car. Hence the odo error on my inaugural drive since I have 165-60-13's. Either that or I might have an earlier rear gear set.
Looked at Marks site, nice wheels, any idea what the max width of tire would fit the 15" rims on our cars?

I run 205/50x15..they are about as wide as will fit w/o a rub. Here is a pic of mine at Road Atlanta last month, they are pretty beefy. They are really great under hard cornering, but require a bit of ''armstrong'' at slow speeds :D So....drive fast! I always thought the 13'' were stock and the 14's were an option.Someone here will know for sure.
