Hello from Exeter, NH

Post by rgannett »

I've been lurking on this forum for the past year or so and am very impressed with the wealth of knowledge and experience shared by all.

I've just bought (today) a 1980 124 Spider with 78,000 miles on it. It's a project but is a good start, little rust, none in crucial areas, has had a bad repaint a while ago, and came with a spare '81 motor with FI, two spare trannys w/bell housings, new top & boot and new interior kit (not installed), and has had a new radiator, starter, and water pump. Price paid was $1,700. It started easily and sounds decent. It is my intent to tear it apart and make it whole over the next year or so.

I previously owned a '73 in my youth and have wanted another since then. As such I'm certain I will spend a fair amount of time on this forum gleaning its wisdom.

Thanks all.
Ron

I've had my '80 (carb) for about 2 years now and although it will never really be "finished", I'm at the point where I'm running out of things to do on it, so let me know if you need some help or advice. I'm not too far from you and would be happy to stop by some Saturday or Sunday. I love driving my Spider around but it's always more fun if I have a destination.

Hi Ron,

Congrats on your purchase. I'm also in Southern NH so I hope to see you and your new Spider at some of the local events.

My first was a rusted out '75 back in the '80's. I now have an '83.

Do/can any of you NH Spider aficionados make the Kimball's Cruise Nights?

Thanks all, very much appreciated and great to know there's a few locals my way with Spiders. I will do some work myself and have other stuff done by pros.

It's probably a good year from being roadworthy, need seats, looks like master cylinder is gone, but very much looking forward to it, both the work and the driving.

Donm - I work in Beverly.

Thanks again guys,I've got a garage to clean out, I'm picking it up next weekend. As soon as its road worthy, I plan on trying to do some cruise nights.

Let the fun begin!
