Hmmmmmm

Post by spidernut »

"Things that may you say hmmmmm": I decided to tackle the Fuse #1 intermittent blowing problem I recently developed. One of the things I decided to do was to remove the fuse and check for any continuity between the ground and the fuse block.

With the engine on, the ohm meter reads 0 ohms measuring from the fuse block to the ground. With the engine off, it reads 6.3 ohms. The only thing that I can think of that would cause this would be the ignition switch.

I checked the tail light grounds (OK), I found my rear parking lamps were out (replaced them but this might be a clue), double checked tail light wiring harnesses (taped up anything suspect at all), disconnected the reverse light switch (no affect).

I'm starting with the things I can reach without disassembling the car since I just got it back together. Oh well, such is life. I thank the Lord that I'm a patient person.

John, What else is on #1? Somethig is drawing too much current. i.e. a short, or a dirty/poor connection. My guess is poor connection (something not tight) and only happens when a particular circuit is used????

Not sure if ohm meter is best tool for the job. And if fuse failure is intermittent, even less so.
