Hey guys can anyone tell me what sending unit I need for the gauge in the picture. It's from a 72 and i want to install it in my 78. Also where on the motor does it hook up to and what is involved in wiring it up. Boy I don't ask for much, now do I By the way anyone reading this post I want to Thank all of you for sharing the knowledge you guys have, if their is anything I'm stumped with this is always my first stop. It goes where the light's sender is now. The light's sender goes in a hole in the front side of the oil filter block that now has a plug in it.
You need to run wire to the gauge, you can get everything else from the other gauges (power, ground, power for the light).
Look at the wiring diagram for an early car and you can figure out which wire is which. They are online at:

You can also get the part that bolts onto the motor from a model that has the oil pressure gauge in it. Then you will have the both senders one for the light and one for the gauge. I did that on my old 73 124 special. I installed the Spider gauges in it. Looked pretty cool for a little ol 4 door sedan back then!
