High Beams Problem

Post by socaltino »

This is more of a mechanical problem, but it's related to my high beams. Recently I've noticed that unless I hold down the high beam lever down and away from me, my lights don't light up. If I pull and release on the lever, my high beams go on and off with no problem. My question then boils down to. Is there a screw or tab, that can be adjusted so that the high beams come on when the lever is placed in the down position? Or am I screwed till I find a replacement turn signal, light beams and wiper stalk component  ?

sounds like the combination switch has a worn contact. I have seen one new switch that wasn't properly assembled and it had the same trouble yours has.

Thank you for the responses. When I get some time I'm going to take the column apart and see if I can repair the problem. Maybe it's as simple as bending the metal contact or tightening up the two parts that make the switch up. Unfortunately this is my daily driver, so taking it apart for more that a couple of hours is not feasable. Thanks again and I'll keep you in mind mbouse on that used part, in case I can't repair the one I have.

Hey Mark, when are you going to have the day at your shop "Technical Day" that you mentioned when I met you, at the Best of Italy and France day? Sounded like a great idea. You can count on me for some food and vino.

Hey Mark, I asked that it not be too soon, but if we have to wait for the shop to get straightened up.............
how about a "let's all meet at Mark's and lend some muscle - day"?

haha, it's hard enough now to find anything! Seriously, it's something we've talked about and are planning to do at some point.
