Hello from Oregon

1977 spider 124. Been raining ever since I got it on Thursday. Why did I buy a convertible in Oregon?

keep the faith, my friend. I bought my spider on June 6 while living in Eugene. It was 30 days before the top went down.

I also live in the Pacific Northwest - a bit further north than you, but in the rain belt as well. My spider very rarely gets driven in the rain - certainly not on purpose. It's an '80 with about 40K original miles, so few, no doubt because of the climate!

Yes !! Another Oregonian. Welcome. There are a lot of very knowledgeable folks on here and I have learned a lot (lots more to go) and saved a lot of money and time in the process. Where do you hang your hat? I am in Corvallis. Do post a picture of your car (search the forum for the picture posting procedure).

Hey fellow North-westerners. I am down in Eugene. Managed to drive a few miles between showers, but now waiting for actual sun. Looks like the first two projects are electrical (brights don't work, left turn signal is flaky) and replace the muffler. Previous experience with cars consists of reading the paper while the quick lube guy changes the oil. I ordered the Spider shop manual off Amazon. Hopefully in will have a diagram that will tell me if the flat cylinder thing at the back of the car is indeed a muffler. Or is it the catalytic converter? As I keep explaining to my skeptical spouse, I can read, I can tighten bolts, I can un-tighten bolts, I can adjust things, therefore I can work on cars. I just need the proper documentation and a little help from the internet.

yes, the flat cylinder thingy is your muffler. the CAT is located under the passenger seat. The resonator is between the 2. Working on fiat wiring will send you to the funny farm if you arent there already. most fiat electrical issues are a result of bad grounds or bad fuse connections. clean connections with either fine sandpaper, pencil eraser or scrape clean with a knife. apply a little dielectric grease to the connection before reassembly. grease is available from any auto parts house or radio shack. feel free to squeeze the fuse tongs together to make the fit tighter on the fuse.
