Greetings from Boston, Massachusetts

Post by janeiac »

I've had my Fiat 124 Spider convertable for about 15 years, but I've only been able to drive it part of that time. The odometer reads about 1600 miles (vs when I got it it showed about 90k) :)

It was in sorry shape when I got it, and then spent the next 2-3 years in a shop getting fixed up. I had the radiator replaced, new shock towers and running panels welded in, the wiring harness replaced, and the frame rails straightened, replaced the transmission, replaced the steering box, and put on a new cloth top, plus some little things.

I had gotten it back on the road and had been driving it happily for only a few months when I got rear-ended at a red light. The other driver's insurance company paid out, and I put it back into the shop.

During the six years it was in a shop, I tried to pressure the guy who was working on it, and he threatened to put it on a flatbed and drop it off in front of my city apartment building. I backed off.

I got it back last week-- YAY!

It's got new replacement bumpers now and a new (execrable) paint job. I can't remember all the things I've done to it over the years, but I'll never forget how much fun it is.

I'm hoping to make it over to the Kimball cruise-- will I find Fiat people there?

Jane

Welcome aboard! There are a few of us here in Eastern Mass. Attleboro, Grafton, Plymouth, Chelmsford, Hamilton that I am aware of. I am in Foxboro, and go to the Millis Cruise night regularly. Saturdays at Gold's Gym on Rt 109 in Millis. Mine is off the road this week getting a complete new front end installed, but will be rolling again soon. Are you in the city itself or outskirts?

Thanks!

I'm in the city itself. No place to work on a car. Yep, that's why I write checks. A lot. <grin>

That's my story and I'm sticking to it. It has nothing to do with fear of breaking a nail! :)

Hi Jane,
Hope wou have someplace to park your spider that's out of the weather. They don't do well outdoors.
Bostons a great town. Daughter goes to college there. Have you ever had breakfast at the Paramount on Charles Street over by the Commons. Highly recomended

I'm going to try to get there this Friday.

They don't hold them in Westford any more. They're now at Kimballs in Lancaster on Friday nights from 5-9.

Good to know! That is actually a bit easier for me too from Foxboro. If I get the front end done this week I may jog up there myself.

Given your knees, Pete, maybe you should take your car.
