Andy, I know it took me considerable time to sort out all the systems on my car. Then i painted it. On the forum are people of various degrees of knowledge and ability. Is the car running good and pulling strong? Consider the overall condition of the car and your mechanical/electrical ability before putting the time and effort into the paint. I only say this because as a new owner you can (if you have not already) spend some time becoming familiar with the details before a larger investment in time and money involved with paint.

Thanks for that. Apart from a couple of bulbs here and there, oh, and of course the clock. (I'm told these always break) the car itself is in good shape. Its originally a Florida car, was then sent back to Italy, sat for 7 years in a dry store due to red tape. It was then sold to a guy in England who used it for 3 months then locked it away for 5 years to restore. That didnt happen, so I bought the car, paid £1600 for it. body wise, there is hardly any welding to do, a tiny, and I do mean tiny patch on the nearside inner sill, the side repeaters (US style) I am going to plate up. They are not a requirement here due to the age of the car, and they do look a bit un-sightly. The front end I am going to "clean" up a bit, remove the bumper, fit smaller turn signals (got some ideas from other members on here) and fit the Abarth style bumperettes. The price of those is downright scary, so I'll make them out of aluminium and TIG them up. A bit of satin black, job done. total cost, about £5. I will post some pictures of progress, however, I will be shouting "help" at some point. Dont know when, but it will happen. Thanks again for the input.

you could tig up a thousand of those bumperettes and sell them on this site and probably retire as long as you have a better price than the available websites offering them!

Well, done a lot more taking apart. Not too bad at all really. The old tin worm dosnt appear to have really had much of a go. The only surprise are the floors. Passenger side will definately need a new one, I will price one up and see if its worth buying one or fabricating one, Drivers side looks ok, but I will know when I've done some more digging. The rear lights are a definate issue. Both are cracked, (not badly) but I want them right. What I would like to do is fit the earlier style rear lights. For me they just look better. Apart from them being smaller than the later lights, so some metalwork required, are there any other pitfalls I should know about? Now, I just have to work out how to get some pictures up here now.
