Greetings from a new member

Post by sthiel »

Hello, I am new to this site. I am gathering information from many of the posts on this site for the resurrection of a 1978 124 spider that my brother currently owns. I have previously cut my teeth on the restoration of a 1959 Austin-Healey 100-6,which was sold and replaced by more practical transportation. Now I am at a point in my life where my children are all in college and I am ready for some automotive irresponsibility. The subject of my day dreams is a derelict 1978 Spider which has sat immobile in my brothers garage for greater than 10 years. I have recently been helping my brother with another project of his, and he has agreed to relinquish the spider to me to settle his indebtedness. The information I have found here has been valuable and inspiring as I formulate my plan of attack for this project. The one subject matter that I still need to find on this site, is how the current members have stayed in the good graces of their spouses, while they have dallied with their automotive paramours?

I have explained to her that if I was to have an affair, it is with an Italian red head. This way I still have a house to live in.

The other thing, as she is a retired by-law officer, is that any car(fiat) that comes home and is parked outside runs and is insured.. No derelict cars outside.
After 6 years of Fiat, no problems so far.. :D
Where do you hang the hat?

Guess I am one of the lucky few, as it was my wife's idea to get Fiona

Wishing you all the best with your project :)

Where are you located/ You might have another site member close to you. It's always nice to have additional folks near you that are interested in your hobby. It's worked out great here in New Jersey. Welcome to the site, George

My wife knows that with the Spider it is not as demanding as my race car, But then I have a wife who suppports me in almost al of my endivers. She is not real happy about motorcycles, but that is not a problem as I haven't riden in years. Just pretend that I can spell and you will injoy this post more. My wife also likes to not have none running vehicles parked outside so I have a 1800 sq ft garage to take care of that. It is getting quite full so I looked having more built last year, but that was quite alot of money so no more cars for now.
