Just bought a 1972 Fiat Spider. 12000 miles and original tires, interior is as good as the day it was bought new. Body needs a lot of work and i beleive I have an ignition issue. The trunk is locked and lock is broken. I guess the previous two owners never tried to open it.. wonder what is inside???? Looking forward to finding some good info on the site..
It will be my winter restoration project.

Re: New Fiat Owner
Welcome aboard! Drill a small (~1/8-1/4") hole, centered under the license plate, 2" down from the edge as per this pic, and get in there with an awl and move it left and right and you will get the catch and open it right up!

I see your pic look a little different then the back of my car. My key lock is just below the trink lid about an inch above the hole you have drilled. Do you think it will still work the same?
Not sure how to attach an image?

Re: New Fiat Owner
hmmmm.. that drill procedure might not work on your 72. Anyone know about this? It works on the 80 where the key is over to the right, but on yours it looks like the keyhole is centered?

Well i got it open.. No hoffa, and no Tony, and no cash. Just two empty boxes, some plastic shopping bags and a jug of windsield washer fluid.
