I'm putting the iterior back together. I bought a new emer. flasher but beceause the old one was broken, the PO had disconnected the terminal connector and jumpered two of the connections. Everything works that way except the 4 way flashers. When I plug on the round connector ring it leaves the center spade on the switch without a wire to it and doesn't operate. So, there must be a wire that goes to it, but my wiring diagram doesn't match the colors on the pig tail, so I don't know what should go there. All the wiring in the car is original and unmolested. I've tried the single wire connectors on it but nothing will get it going. Does anyone know how this is supposed to hook up?

Thanks Mike, but I've got that diagram and it doesn't match my color scheme on the pigtail. Plus its a flat diagram and I can't seem to convert that to the round configuration of my connector. And: it shows seven connectors being used and that leaves out the center one. If I just hook up the connector and leave that center one it doesn't work. The diagram also shows 2 wires joining at 1 terminal, my pigtail doesn't have that either. I'm confused, and just a little bit frustrated.

Look for a single black cable coming from the same wiring loom, this goes to the centre pin on the switch.

I've just done a continiuity check, the black cable is a straight earth wire, so just create a new wire to an earth connection point.

Thanks Adrian. But. There is another single wire coming in with the loom, it's black with a purple stripe, and I had tried attaching it to the center spade terminal, it didn't work. Just to be sure, I did attach another ground wire. Still no go. I appreciate the effort people are making to help me, I don't mean to shoot down suggestions, its just I've tried everything and I'm at my wits end. (not that long a trip). Keep the suggestions coming, I'm monitoring the forum a lot so that as they come in I can respond.

The white wire with the red stripe is not in any wiring diagrams I can find for my car. The two striped blue wires on the right don't really match the diagrams very well either. ????

OK, I've got it.
Black /violet is ground. It goes in center. Make sure that you match up collar with flasher so that the missing tab on flasher goes into the space where there is no wire attached.

white/red wire goes to fiber optic light
med blue goes to flasher...possible that the flasher is not functioning
Violet, Lt. blue and Lt. blue/black all come from turn signal
Red from fuse box
Lt. blue/white from fuse box
black/violet is ground

Thanks a bunch Pope. I had the thing connected correctly then, but nothing works when it is. As I said, the PO had pulled the old one and jumpered two wires (dk. blue to lt. blue with grey bands) and everything works that way, except 4 way flashers of course. I was very careful to plug the unit in lining up the space in the switch with the wireless point on the loom. I wonder now if the new switch is defective.
I'm beginning to think I can live without emergency flashers. Shoot, my car never breaks down anyway!

always a good idea to eliminate all of the variables, ron. is it possible that you could borrow a known working switch from someone and swap it into your dash?

do all the other lights work if your switch is NOT connected? if so, then there is something jumpered that you have not found. that may be the issue. if properly wired, the circuits will not work properly if the switch is disconnected.

How or should I say where are the two wires jumpered at? The darker blue goes to flasher unit and the Lt.blue/white bands goes to the fuse box at the #1 fuse location.
