bought my first fiat 1979
was looking for a cheap car to use to move out of state that ran well and was cheap due to no cat as in my case and here in california smog shops want to rip your wallet a new one as same with the dmv but besides all that got the car for $400 it ran well just had a knock in the rear end witch ended up being a larger problem on the way home from buying it noise got louder, well took the service panel off the differential and the passenger side of the bell? was destroyed. so i went to an old friend of mines house and remembered he owned a 72 or a 74 spider and he had an other one all in parts minus body well asked if he had a rear end and he did so i dug it out of a old pick up bed trailer. he said if i can dig it out and clean up my mess i can have it so i did just that. so i got it at home and it looked as everything would fit ...11 hours later and now a 72 rear end in my 79. it seams to drive well and accelerate smoothly down the road strait only problem that came up when swapping was that the drive line was like a half inch short with the older rear end? still bolted it up and all is tight but not sure if i need to use the older drive line from the other car? but be sides that i love this car already.
