Welcome.
Whatever you do, buy the best car you can afford. I have an original owner '81 Turbo (removed) with 81K original miles on it. No rust, good paint, great interior and top. I just bought in the spring for $3K. Put new tires on it (Falken 912s 195/60/14) and the rear half of the exhaust. Around $500 in it so far.
But now is a good time to buy before people take them off the road for winter.
