Hello from LA, CA!
Just finished 8 yrs of grad school ... now (with a decent income) looking for a late 70's / early 80's Spider for my own. Nice to be aboard!

welcome red! you wanting fuel injection or prefer the uni-bumper? cause the 1600's actually have the highest hp output - just saying the early cars are pretty sweet! -proud parent

Re: Hello from LA, CA!
Welcome, Why late 70's? They are the poorest performers, particularly in CA as you have to keep up with the smog issues. I'd recommend a rust-free (more expensive) 71-72 or Fuel injected '80s car. If I were looking I'd hope to stumble upon a rust-free 1985 with rack and pinion steering, though some say the R & P is no better. I haven't driven one. It may be that I have a worn out steering box and/or idler.

Hi All ... thanks for the replies!
@ ericg and 2ndwind -- I prefer the later-year body styles, but not committed (drifted back into the late-70's just to widen the availability range). Early, rust-free (and affordable) 1600s sweet ... only listings I've seen around here are projects -- not ready for that just yet, but hope to be down the line!
