'80 Spider in Tallahassee FL

Post by LeroyDiplowski »

Hey folks, I'm the proud new owner of a 1980 fiat spider.

Right now it cuts out at throttle under load, but only when the engine is warm. I hope to have it sorted soon. Here's what she looks like now. Now on over to read all the threads in the Engine section...

Yeah, there's no significant rust, but I cannot get the damn thing to run right. I know the solution is there just around the corner...

Just wanted to update:

I got the fiat running great. The problem turned out to be a bad fuel line. Also, I discovered that at some point in my fiat's life the original fuel pump was replaced with a unit from some sort of Ford. They had it held in with like 10 zip ties

Anyhow, I've been DD'ing this thing for the last 2 weeks. It's been such great fun. I also found the local fiat guru. He has a 200hp N/A drag racing fiat in his garage along with an entire barn full of parts. I wanted to take some pics, but he seemed pretty uncomfortable with that so I did not press the issue.

He had a couple of them as well as a few 800s. Most of the cars in his yard were pretty well picked over. It looked like they had been there since before I was born. Not too much rust 'tho. If anyone is looking for anything in particular let me know, and I'll pass it along to him.
