New - In MI
I learned about cars in a riding in my dad's 124 many, many years ago. I looking for one of my own now that I'm settled in Michigan. Feel free to contact if you know anyone selling a clean one, but really looking for something around '72-'74 ish. I'm learning as I go here about 124's, but have a solid background as a tech working on imports & American cars.

Magna,
The 71-72, 81-82 cars are considered preferable by many. Naturally with all of these, rust is an issue. More likely in the early cars ('cause they're 10 yrs older). My advice, along with others, is to buy the nicest car possible. You will still have plenty of tinkering to do. I bought mine for $3500, no rust, but about $7000 later, it is reliable and fun but still just a $4-5K car. I would have been better off buying a $10K car that had had everything done already. But alas, I am not alone.

Thanks all. Tony, I'll give you a call. I totally understand how cars become black holes for cash. I'm very interested in any advise (that's how I found this forum in the first place) so please keep sharing. I do weld & have a mig rig handy. I think finding a FIAT up here will require a little metal replacement & I'm fine with that.
