Hello from Dallas, TX
Hello from Dallas, TX
Hey folks just joined the board and the Fiat Spider club. Picked up a green beauty from 1982 and I'm sure I will have plenty of questions once I start to work on it. Daily driver but in very nice condition. First task will be a timing belt and a visit to Vicks in Ft. Worth.

Re: Hello from Dallas, TX
Thanks, I have to do minor things but the odometer only reads 58k. It is a very clean car but need to change timing belt since the one in it is at least seven years old. I'm thinking I will change the tensioner and water pump while I have it apart.

Re: Hello from Dallas, TX
Good idea on the water pump and tensioner while changing the timing belt. You can take a close look at the V belt. while your there check out the heater pipe that runs under the exhaust manifold. For some reason the heater pipe is known to develope a leak at the union of the pipe and the water pump over time. Simple fix as long as you have the gasket set. This is one of the places I use a "thin" bead of RTV Blue on both sides of the paper seal. Apply around the pipe hole as well as the two bolt holes. Folks will tell you that you do not need it. I agree, you do not need it. However, I feel more confident in the assembly with a little. A little dab will do Ya! Keep it clean..
Buon giro a tutti! - enjoy the ride!
