Clipto - the Netherlands

Post by clipto »

Hi guys (and girls),

My name is Jarno, i'm a new forum member from the Netherlands.
Not owning a spider... yet!
Looking in my country for a nice red Spider, preferrable with with automatic transmission.
At this moment I have found one wich I'm taking to an independent expert and when it's technically in a good shape I might own a spider before the end of 2012.
Will post pictures to this thread later ;)

Jarno.

You mean Haarlem? Where the story of the book 'The Hiding Place" took place? That is an amazing book. And Haarlem is a beautiful little town :-) I visited it in 2005.

Hey Jarno,
Welcome to the forum. There was a guy on here from The Hague a while ago.
I used to have my boat in a harbor in Westervoort for the summers and always had a good time in den Niederlanden. Never made it to Amersfoort though.
Good luck with your car hunt, Tobi

Yes I do mean Haarlem sorry for the typo mistake,
I haven't had a chance to read the book but the story is quite famous
Its about a family hiding Jews in there house and the fears and terrors they lived in.
You must try to read the story of Ann Frank whom lived in an attic for over 4 years during the occupation.
I can honestly say that I have heard of many stories told by my parents and how my grand parents hid there sons under the house when the germans where looking for slave labours to build bunkers not 30 min from there house in Bloemendaal
There stands a large white cross as they would never return.

Its great to hear you've been there Csaba, I hope you can make it back there someday.

Not the happiest stories about the Netherlands guys

Some good news, next saturday (a week from now) I will be taking this car, on wich I have the first option of buying, to the Fiat Spider expert in the Netherlands, who happens to be located in Amersfoort. (so happy I moved over here in april!).
What do you guys think? Looking good right?
Planning to make the hoods red again by the way, don't like the Abarth-style that much..

BF-Torino seats and great wheels (I don't think they're Campagnolo but I also can't identify them). Looks like a wonderful car.

Clipto,

That is a beautiful car. Hopefully it is fine mechanically, but do not be surprised if the mechanic finds a few things wrong. It is over 30 years old after all. I can see that it needs the driver's side door lug :-) (triangle shaped rubber at the bottom of the door).

John,

I am a WW2 history buff, so yes, of course I read the book and have been to the museum in her house. Amsterdam and London have great WW2 history museums, etc. Vienna, not so much. Funny how that works...
