Clipto - the Netherlands
Re: Clipto - the Netherlands
Thanks guys, I can buy this car for €3000,- (that's about 3900 dollars).
I'm planning to drive it in summerdays mostly, so I prefer a softtop wich I can use on the road when running into rain.
The current owner is willing to lower the price to €2500,- (about 3230 dollars) when I buy it without the hardtop.
Before this car I had (still have) a Toyota MR2, sportscar from the early 90's.
Did a respray but after 7 years I'm tired of the whole restauration thing and not being able to take my car for a nice ride on a sunny day.
So I'm currently selling all the parts of the Toyota in pieces, wich gives me more money than bringing it together in running shape, and sell it then.
That's why I decided not to buy the Fiat with the hardtop, the owner told me he had offers up to €800,- for the hardtop.
But I am not very known to Fiat parts and what they are worth, so I think I just buy it without the hardtop.
Got loads of stuff in my garage to sell, from the Toyota, and otherwise I'll look kinda like a carparts-shop
Or do you guys think I'll get an easy 500+ for this thing?
Why the car is sold in such low pricing?
It has some rust parts under the paint, every side of the car has some.
Some bubbles, hiding some future trouble underneath.
As far as I could see when I first visited the car, it's nowhere fully through (no holes etc.) but next saturday the expert can tell me the status, as he knows the weak points of these beauties.
I own a nice house with an empty garage, so I can store her in the winters, hoping the rust will be slown down.
Maybe a respray in a winter or 2, we'll see.
The interiour is in absolutele amazing shape and from what the current owner was telling me, it's technically in a good shape too.
Can't wait till it's saturday.
Oh.. already bought a new radio for her.
I didn't like the current radio in it and found a nice Pioneer radio, with classic look ánd able to play mp3 disks!

To be honest, I would buy it with the hardtop. That is quite rare and you will have no problems selling it on to a Fiat owner in Germany, Netherlands or Belgium. It will go quickly at a high price. You may also find you like it as a targa. What condition is the soft top in?
That Pioneer is a great radio. I bought one for my Opel Speedster, partly for the minimalistic look and simplicity of operation, but it's backed up with very good internals.
Oh, and that price for the Spider is an absolute steal over here. Snap it up!

Re: Clipto - the Netherlands
Hm, in great doubt about that hardtop (targa-top)..
Radio is a Pioneer DEH-P77MP, I've bought a used one for €35,- in original box, with papers and cover to keep the front in.
Not sure about ipod connecting

Re: Clipto - the Netherlands
Softtop is in bad shape by the way, the frame is ok, but the fabric is gone at some corners.
So that has to be fixed, found a cheap DIY kit on ebay, anyone bought these?
Is replacement easy to do?

Re: Clipto - the Netherlands
Hallo Jarno,
Amazing low price for the car,
Looks too good to be true on the pictures and if you had an advice from a Fiat specialist ..., go for it !
Nice & expensive seats, wheels (cromodora ?), hardtop .., maybe the contradiction Abarth looks vs automatic transmission
is something making it less interesting for other buyers.
Hardtop ? sure.
( indien je er later nog van af wilt, laat gerust weten, ben wel geinteresseerd )
The softtop kit is in vinyl, not cloth.
I bought one about five years ago from Henk Poortinga, softtop still in great shape.
Living in Belgium, not that far away. If I can help with some questions,...
good luck, Geert.

Hi Geert, thanks for your tip.
Wasn't aware that there's a shop that close to me.
Henk Poortinga is only half a hour away from my home!!
Too read that on an international forum, is really funny
May I ask you what you've paid for that (used?) softtop?

Whohoo!!
Made a drive with her today and decided to buy this beauty
Going to buy it without the hardtop (targatop) and getting her between Chrismas and New Year.
Can't hardly wait!!
Me driving away for the first ride:
Some talking 'bout the car with the current owner:
Me, behind the steering wheel:
Bought her for €2500,-

Let us know what wheels those are, if there are any identifying castings on them.

Re: Clipto - the Netherlands
congrats, well done, that is a good buy.
The wheels do look like a campagnolo wheel??
Would you able to let us know who the manufacturer of the hard top is??
