Hello from Tucson, also

Post by millertraci »

Weird I see another Tucson new owner who got his two days after I got mine.

So Hi all
I'm Traci and I just acquired my first Fiat. It's a very pretty black 78 spider and for being so pretty, it runs nicely too. After going through it with a couple of parts catalogs, I find it also incredibly complete. I think I got pretty lucky.

I am going to be asking some obvious parts questions first and I'll save those for appropriate forum areas. I am pretty acquainted with forum etiquette as I moderate the national Lambretta forums. Over the last ten years I have been an avid Lambretta collector and quasi mechanic and I have to say, I do love the way Italians put stuff together. I am actually pretty comfortable diving into the basic maintenance on the spider, having changed the plugs and adjusted the carb as soon as I got him home (I'm a girl so my vehicles are all male) :)

I am hoping to dive a little deeper but I plan on letting the pro's handle any of the big stuff which, as of now, there doesnt seem to be any. Yay! I'll see if I can post a photo for you, just bragging baby pictures and the like.

Thanks for having me and any patience you exert on my behalf in the coming weeks.

Yes I drove to work this morning with the top down, scarf around my head and heavy coat. In a few weeks I'll have to strip down to bare skin to stand it so enjoy the cold while I can and rub it in the faces of all the miserable souls commuting in cans.

Hello & Welcome.

Hey, thanks for the picture; that's a very nice looking 78, Traci. I do have a fondness for a black spider

Welcome Traci.

Looks like you may have a tweener spider or a 78.5. When Fiat was changing the model from 78 to 79 some parts from the new model ended up on the previous year. Looks like you have a CS1 small bump hood, but CS2 door handles. Your differential could be different as well. There may be others I can't think of at the moment, but you have a somewhat unique car.
