Changing ignition
Changing ignition
I want to chage my dual point dist in my 73 for one from my 79 parts car but I need to know what size resistor I need to reduce the voltage so I don't burn out my tach. The original coil has a built in resistor for the points and the tach gets it's power after the coil but the electronic ignition coil does'nt have one.

Re: Changing ignition
from my understanding the resistor was a balast resistor so the coil wouldn't burn out??
If you use a later electronic unit, just run your tacho lead to the -ve side of the coil, just ensure the coil aluminium housing is properly grounded
