New 1980 owner from Sask

Post by kdyck »

Hey guys and gals

A new Canadian Spider owner here. I just bought a 1980 fuel injected model and I am excited for upcoming driving weather. It is in beautiful shape (except for color) so I won't be doing much to it (other than replacing to a factory radio if possible). But I'll be on here from time to time to ask questions I'm sure. Thank you in advance. I would also be interested to see if there are any fiat groups in the Canadian prairies.........

Happy driving

Kolin

Actually looks pretty good to me, not a bad color. Somewhat unique.

The color could grow on me. My biggest interest would be a change to a factory color if anything. Only had her a week so far.

With an all black interior and rich walnut, etc wood dash, that color would look great.

That's why I came here....you guys are definitely helping me accept the color :) as well as giving me good ideas. The interior would definitely be cheaper than doing a full color change.

A hearty left coast welcome to you Kolin! That's a great looking car, and you will find the group here is always ready to provide very valuable advice. Don't be shy in asking for help. I think there is at least one other Sask member here - from Saskatoon if I recall correctly. Hopefully he will chime in.

Hi Kolin, Glad you found this site. It will save you untold frustration that these cars can inflict on occasion.
The colour... is it similar to the old RCMP cruisers? Your's is nice and shiney though.
As Bruce mentioned, there is another in Sask. I think Manitoba has a member as well.
I notice the drivers seat has the "lean" an easy fix when the car is put away for the winter and the time many in the northern climes tweek their cars for the next top-down season.

Yeah, you definitely want to fix the Seat Lean... You'll thank yourself after a long drive, when your spine is twisted to match.

Welcome.
Due to recent budget cuts and the rising cost of electricity, gas, and oil, we have decided to turn off the light at the end of the tunnel. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Thanks guys for the warm welcomes

I will definitely be tackling the seat lean this winter. I was told it was quite common. I'm in Saskatoon as well, so I hope I'm able to find the other one :) . The color is somewhat similar Chris (been a long time since I've seen those cruisers), but a little more purple to it if that makes sense.....sort of grape'y'. I also might be heading to Comox this summer with it, so I might run into you Bruce.

Hi Kolin,
Welcome to the group. Nice looking car you have there.
There are actually 2 members here in Saskatoon (that I know of), now there is 3. I thought I saw a car similar to yours last summer heading down Attridge drive, but I couldn't catch up. When did you get yours? My 82 Fiat is black, the other members is a red 82.
I haven't been doing much to my Fiat this winter season, so I mostly just lurk around in the background of this site, reading all the contributions by the many great members of this forum. You won't find a better source or a more helpful bunch of car people.
Can't wait for the snow to melt!!!!! :)
