mother-in-law proofing

Now that the new paint is being applied, the spider now does in the garage. My mother-in-law is quite casual about they way she opens doors, (with my cars, not hers) . I am thinking about some kind of mat or protection i can hang on the car. Give me some suggestions, campers.

LOL, I'm with Rodman. But 3 pool noodles at about a dollar each should do the trick. Use some string, and hang them horizontally about 10 inches apart like a fence. Hang it between the cars. kind of like this:http://www.auto-care.com/hangingdg.html

I'm with Garion, a bigger garage is always the best option. I do like the noodle option also.

Thanks for the recommendation, guys. On my list of favorite people, my mother-in-law makes the bottom of the list. With that said, my wife will quickly become her primary caretaker as none of the rest of the family can take her for more than a day. That means I get to watch her advancing dementia up close and personal. She will be living with me for her bi-annual extended visit beginning about the time the car gets back from the painter. Old age is soooo much fun.
On the second point, a larger garage would be a dream come true. That wont happen til i win the lottery. So the foam noodles sound like a good way to go.
Got the garage cleaned out today to make room for the car. next is to prep door innards and wipers for install.

I park the Fiat on the right side of the garage and if there is a passenger in the car that parks on the left, they enter and exit in the driveway and not in the garage. House Rules.....

John, she is still driving. I'm waiting for the day when she calls and doesn't have a clue where she has driven. My house is opposite from yours in the house door is on the right. If i park the fiat there, then all the foot and dog traffic comes in contact with the corner of the Fiat. there is so much stuff in the garage that i will have to back the Fiat in, so both drivers side doors open against each other. My wifes swears she will tell her mom, no driving in or out of the garage and she has to wait to get in the car when it is in the drive way. I'm not convinced all this can be inforced, so I am inventing some passive deterrent.
On the plus side, my mother-in-law is a good driver with decent eyesite and does not partake in any substances, eventho her doctors have been trying to get her on anti-depressants for years.

my insurance says thats a no-no. Also, this is Arizona. There is no such thing as a proper cover for this heat.

Got it. That makes sense. Could it maybe go outside most of the year safely? (from the heat) Mine stays outside April to Nov in MA, under a Noah Cover with good results. Never herad before of an insurance restriction, not sure why they would be against that? Not everyone has a garage here, and the vast majority of cars are outside fulltime anyway, probably 80+%.

Pete, a lot of specialized classic car insurance policies require the car to be garage-kept. These policies are usually way cheaper than regular insurance policies; some also limit mileage, and stipulate the car not be a daily driver.
