Re: New Plates
What we all must remember in Victoria is that the club plate scheme is a privilege. Every time I go out I fill in the log book and as I have the 90 day permit there are plenty of times to take the car out. You only have yourself to blame if you get caught doing the wrong thing.
There is the option of a 45 day permit and if you are running out if days you can extend it to 90 days at any time.
The police are cracking down as some people are abusing the scheme by buying an old car and using it as a daily drive on club permits to save money. It is these people who are going to ruin it for everyone. Also the rally guys have a different system which allows them to drive their cars to and from races, completely different from the club permit.
If you only intend to drive your fiat for weekend pleasure the club permit is the only way to go. I am a member if the Philip Island Automobile Racing Club and they certified my car as suitable for a club permit. I would never place the club at risk of losing their certification status. Anyone who abuses the scheme should be ejected from their club and be prevented from joining another for a long time.

Re: New Plates
Spot on there, my car is only a weekender during the summer months so it does make sense to use club plates,
I just need to get my head around not forgetting to log as it could turn out to be a very costly exercise.
