That sounds pretty good, I have been quoted an additional $1000 if they have to remove the trim. In fact I think this is the reason some of my quotes were $10K. They really do not want to work on the car. Too many trim pieces that are fragile and hard or expensive to replace.

Anyway, I think I am going to go with the $2K paint job. I will remove the trim and they will do the minimal body work, then prime and paint. I just can't risk stripping the paint and having the body shop say it is going to cost an extra $1K-2K more becuase of the ripples in the metal. I don't have it right now.

In my area, most body shops I have talked to have no interest in a full body paint job. The shops hone in on the easy insurance jobs with alot of profit.

Years ago, I went to Miracle with my '87 Ford truck. I had it stripped down...they did a pretty darn good job for the price. If not Miracle or similar, I will find a paint guy who works on the side.
