My Baby Has Arrived! 1974 Spider

Post by jclarkey »

It is officially in my garage so I thought I would finally share some pictures.

It is by no means a show car, but runs strong. Plus it came with a huge amount of parts to get it into better shape. Looking forward to getting it out on the road next week, but have to wait for my other baby to arrive first. Wife is scheduled for C-section on Tuesday! What an exciting week!!!

Man, If I wasn't married to such a wonderful lady already , I'd be asking you if your wife has a sister. You getting a spider the same week the baby is due to arrive...
Car looks good.
Congrats on daddy-hood.

She is a pretty awesome lady! She seemed to approve of the car today when she saw it. Can't wait to take her for a cruise.

This is actually our second child so I might have to invest in a Fiat trailer at some point ;)

Guess your lucky up north as the 74's in US had multi piece bumpers with HUGE rubber inpacts. Looks good.

I might actually try and remove the (smaller) black bumpers today. I think it would look sharp with just the straight chrome.

Congrats on a great looking 74! As you probably already know, that is by far, the best year Spider to own

That was actually only the California and Maryland 74's that were stuck with the huge rubber over-riders. The rest of the U.S. 74's got the lovely bumpers with small over-riders.

You can get an idea of what the bumpers look like without the over-riders if you look at some pics of my Spider. I got rid of them when I did my resto-mod.

Yep, now I am sold! Just looks so much cleaner! Hopefully this afternoon I can pull off the bumpers!

Might as well move the license plate too. I flipped the stock mount upside down and screwed it in lower. You can leave upright but it angles the plate back too much for me.

Congrats on your new baby! I pray that the delivery goes smoothly. As my family expanded, I got rid of the Fiats I owned, but have now come back to one as an ideal project car to help teach my two youngest boys a thing or two about mechanical engineering (not to mention the fun aspects of driving them). I kinda wish I had kept the '74 TC sedan, which was a favorite of my wife's.
