I just purchased a 1982 spider 2000. I owned a 1970 124 35 years ago! My question is: is it possible that the wipers can be delayed backwards? In other words, the wiper delays in the up position, rather than the down? If so, how and where do I switch the wires? All behind the actual speed delay switch?
Thanks, Tom

Re: Wiper delay problem
On my 1981 up is off- center is delay and down is continuous. Hope this helps.
I tried post a photo from my owners manual but I lost my procedure paper for the process. Maybe someone could email that again.

Re: Wiper delay problem
thanks...I'm not sure if that answers my question. When you say up is off it sounds like you mean the position of the switch. Is it possible for someone to have miss-wired the switch so that the delay causes the wiper blade to "wait" in the up position?

The wipers will delay in the 'park' (down) position. If the wipers won't park (go back down by themselves regardless of where you switch them off) then the delay will happen in the middle of the stroke. The solution usually is a new wiper motor. I have tried to fix them in the past and inside it all looked ok, but they would still not park.

Re: Wiper delay problem
Thank you Csaba. I was concerned that the motor was the underlying problem. Looks like I'll be purchasing a replacement wiper motor.
