Greetings from Cincinnati - 1982 Spider
Hi, new member to the forum, but longime FIAT owner and FLU member.
1982 FIAT Spider 2000. Best color combination of all the Spiders: Rosso Cherry with tan interior.
My brother's first car was a FIAT Strada that he drove in high school and college in the early 80's. At the FIAT dealer buying parts, he always loved the Spiders, but never owned one until 1990 when he found this one at a garage sale in Lafayette, In. When he purchased it, had 33k miles. I bought it from him in 1991. He and I have pampered it over the past 23 years and only driven it 25k miles. It now has 58k on the odometer. Always garaged with wonderful patina, provenence, and originaity. Newer Pirelli P6000 Sport Veloce tires, Brembo brake rotors, Ferodo pads and Alpine CD player with Infinity speakers. Recently rebuilt 5-speed manual transmission. Abarth exhaust sounds very Italian!
Anyone in Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Area that wants to drive what I call the Northern Kentucky Nürburgring?

Definatey Skyline, but not too often!
I moved to Cincinnati from Detroit. A good FIAT club there - very active with lots of events.
Yes, I need to work on the pictures.

Bah, GOLDSTAR without a doubt! I'm interested in seeing what roads are involved with what you call the "Northern Kentucky Nürburgring."Spiderdan2000 wrote:Definatey Skyline, but not too often!

Hey SpiderDan, Steve here from Montgomery. I've had my car about 3 yrs. I would be interested in driving the Northern Kentucky Nürburgring. I have driven my car at least once every month this past year sometimes with the top up. Lots of sporadic warm days. PM me and lets see if we can get together.

I'd be interested in that too! I've got some suggestions for outstanding roads in NKY so I'll be interested to see what you think are good roads. All of that being said I've got a new 95A alternator coming and need a new muffler before I can venture out on such a trip. Hopefully I'll be able to get those done in a week or two.2ndwind wrote:Hey SpiderDan, Steve here from Montgomery. I've had my car about 3 yrs. Great roads in NKY. I usually go down Big Bone Road to Big Bone Lick State Park. Then east on Beaver Rd to either Riddles Run or East Bend rd with an occasional stop in Rabbit Hash. Great rides with scenic views of the Ohio River.
Re: Greetings from Cincinnati - 1982 Spider
Oh, the good roads around here.
Check out KY 22 from Williamstown to just north of Falmouth. It's just over 14 miles without any straight stretches at all. Rolling hills and curves galore. The only problem is the speed limit has been lowered to 45, oh and there are a ton of motorcycles on it.
KY 17 from US 27 to KY 467 is also great. Only 7 miles but outstanding elevation changes and curves all over. The stretch from KY 467 north to Independence is also good, just not on the same level.
Farther north check out KY 915 in Campbell County. The route basically starts at Campbell County High School and goes north to the AA Highway. If you start south of the school at US 27 and take "South Licking Pike," which turns into KY 915 at the school and continues to Wilder you'll go about 11 miles. There are a couple of outstanding corners on this road (tight with proper banking) that you will probably really enjoy. Speed limit is 55.
For just a nice drive check out US 42 south of Union down toward Carrollton and on to Louisville. US 25 from about Williamstown to Georgetown is also great. Take KY 536 west from I-71/75 in Boone County, go about 13 miles and then turn left on Rabbit Hash Hill Rd. to get to the Rabbit Hash General Store.
If you're farther down in KY do yourself a favor and drive US 68 from just outside Lexington south towards Harrodsburg. Eventually you will end up in the KY River gorge with rock cliff faces just off the roadway as you descend down toward the river. When you end up on the southern side of the river the topography changes and it feels like you're driving on top of the world. Stop at Shakertown if you've got extra time. I do believe that area is one of the most beautiful spots in the world.

You guys are serious explorers. Very cool. I went to the BrownGrass Festival in Rabbit Hash in 2011. I love the place and the alternative blues/country/folk music. Will try again this summer.
I love that the elected mayor of Rabbit Hash, Lucy Lou, is a red and white border collie!

We should gather up any Cincinnati folks and go for a cruise... or at least dinner.

My schedule is sort of hetic, but we'll have to arrange a road rally soon. I'll look for a date.
