road legal

Post by azruss »

Finally bit the bullet and went to motor vehicles to get plates. BTW, friday on a 110 degree day is a lousy time to do this. Anyhow, with classic car insurance disclosure, a $100 fine for not transfering the title when i bought the car in 06, I was out the door with a 2 year deal for $138. It turns out they dont give you classic car plates without paying extra, so i ended up with regular plates. I do get this "whats wrong with the picture" looking at a 7 digit plate on a 60s styled car.

The classic plates aren't that much more. When i registered mine, it was $77 out the door.. I didn't have the fine though.

I guess i should define road legal. a current license plate is now residing on the back. If i took it out and got stopped by a cop, id get cited for no taillights, no turnsignals, no brake lights, no seat belts, no rear view mirror, drivers seat bolted to the floor by one bolt, no headlights, no wipers. ignoring those small inconsequential items, i am road legal.

Classic plates are the way to go, don't have to worry about emissions. And Russ, 112 miles to the north it's currently 81 degrees. Just sayin'

no emissions required, john. The classic insurance declaration was the ticket, not the historic plates. The upside to the heat is the wife and i just got out of the pool for our midnight swim.
