i'm sure. i did notice an interesting fact in the owners manual though. under "specs" it shows that you can reach 104 miles an hour in fourth gear then when you throw it into fifth you can expect to reach 105 miles an hour. i would wear a neck brace either way!

finished the basic strip down. probably pushed the car in and out of the garage like ten times over the weekend because of isolated storms. i'm trying to keep the sanding dust outside and the light is better

got a little side tracked last week. a former Patriots football palyer shows up at my office on business and was walking by my office and noticed my Partiots helment on my desk and popped in to say hi to a Patriots fan in the deep south. he let me try on his 2001 superbowl ring and signed my helmet. it was Marc Edwards # 44

then i got sidetracked even further when my brother asked me to help him finish his Triumph Spitfire 1500 so he can get it on the road this summer. so it was a totally non-productive week for the Spider. but it was a great week all in all.

managed to get some work done this weekend. took the old rocker panels off. the new ones look slightly different at the top corners where they attach to the body. probably just a little trimming to get them to fit. got 90% of the dent out of the front fender. it will need just a skim of filler to finish.

with a little time and patience i managed to caress 99% of the dent out so i have to use a minimum of filler

ok, here is a current update. it's been a slow summer due to the fact that i had to replace my home A/C system (did it myself) then no sooner than i finished that and my water heater burst so i had to replace that (did it myself)
i have been slowly chipping away at the bodywork. i started to sand the hood and realized that there was like five coats of paint! so i took the hood off, put it on sawhorses and took a burnzamatic torch and a good putty knife and carefully removed all the paint. then started one directional sanding of the hood. i also managed to slowly hammer out the common dent in the drivers front fender where the door opened too far and pushed it in. (i'm trying to use only a skim coat of bondo anywhere i have to use it)

i hit the body shop supply shop. stocked up on blocking boards, sandpaper, air saw, spray gun, pro high build primer, ETC...
i was surprised at how many little dings and imperfections there were in the hood
