Another 79 Fiat 2000!

Post by KEA »

I have recently bought this silver 79 Fiat 124 Spider 2000 for sentimental reasons and have just started down the long road toward restoration. The body and drive-train are in excellent shape but the (red) interior needs a lot of work. I have decide to change the interior to black - carpets, consoles, seats, door panels and seat covers.
When I took the drivers seat apart, I found the back to be twisted and broken in spite of a previous attempt to repair it. I have had trouble finding a driver's side seat back (with foam rubber cushion) but am still trying.
Unfortunately, the car has an automatic transmission but it wasn't as embarrassing to drive it as I thought it might be.
The wheels and tires are stock and they are missing the chrome trim rings. Does anyone know whether or not standard trim rings might fit - or will I need to find specific Fiat rings?

If it's fixable, Vick's say they can fix it.
