New owner in GA

Post by Joe6pack »

Hello all - I recently picked up a new to me 1978 Fiat Spider 1800. The car was produced in 6/78 and was sold new at Kramer Imports in Santa Monica, CA. I have the original window sticker and customer order form along with pretty much every record since 1978. The color is plum (prugna) with a beige interior. 85,000 original miles. It looks like the car has been off the road since 2002. Unfortunately, the original drivetrain is long gone. Otherwise, the car is complete and relatively rust free. The paint is original and the car appears to have never been hit. I have may questions, mostly related to how I should handle the restoration, but I plan to post in the appropriate forums.

Thanks for having me.

I am in Braselton. I am not familiar with Ringgold, but I have made the drive up through the mountains to Chattanooga. It is a nice road trip.

John,
Welcome to the forum. I am not too far from you in Lilburn.
I spent close to 2 years performing a complete nuts and bolts resto-mod on my Spider and will be more than happy to provide insights gleaned along the restoration journey.

Thanks, Kevin. I work in Lawrenceville, so not far at all. I had originally planned to do a complete resto, but now I am thinking of going the survivor route - even though the engine and transmission will have to come from somewhere else. The car really is very original and complete otherwise.
