Repair Rear Quarter Panel

Post by davery »

As I was re-installing my drivers side rear quarter the black plastic broke. A complete vertical break. The panel is covered in vinyl and looks good from the front, but of course it will not provide any structural integrity for the top tie down. A $60 replacement is not really in the budget right now. Since the break is not noticeable from the front, is there any way to repair the panel? Where the break is the panel has a slight curve. I have never used fiberglass, but could I layer fiberglass on the back to give it rigidity? Any other ideas?

Maybe epoxy with a cloth patch on the backside?

I think I have it. I put about 6-7 layers of alum tape on it.
