what year car? (he says, stalling for time).
do you have the seat belt warning light fuctioning?
how about the Keys in the ignition warning chime?
I'm sure your horn works, so can't be that relay
Do you have fuel injection or carbureted 80+ model year?
hmmm, did the electric windows have relays? I don't know for sure.

The one that is missing a relay, is the horn relay in your picture.
Sorry I misquoted myself...your missing the power window relay. Thats because you dont have power windows

I will check this evening unless someone beats me to the punch.
However, it is either the horn relay (which I doubt). if memory serves me, the horn relay is one of those relays shown in your picture.
more likely it is the chime that signals "You've left your door open and the keys are in the ignition" this chime is a common missing in action item. easy enough to replace. I am sure http://www.midwest124.com has them in stock.

Re: can someone telle me what suppose to be there ?
Mike, the chime you are talking about for the doors is a black plastic one all by it self.
1. Horn relay
2. Fasten Seatbelt relay
3. Seatbelt delay warning switch
4. Power window relay
Tappy, do you have power windows?

I just checked my parts car and it shows a black, red and white one. It's missing the other white one all together. This car did have power windows.

Re: can someone telle me what suppose to be there ?
The horn is #4 on your pic, #3 is the fasten seatbelt relay, #2 is seatbelt delay, and #1 is power windows.
The horn relay has a purple/white wire that loops back in the plug.
These are the numbers you have on your pictures

Re: can someone telle me what suppose to be there ?
i discovered while looking this information up, that the '78 although similar, is not the same as the '80. therefore, i retract anything i say above. My memory is not (believe it or not) perfect.
I don't wanna start an arguement, and I have not verified the below with actual locations on my vehicle....but....
my IAP shop manual says for 79-80 & 1981 vehicles the four relays depicted in the above picture are as follows:
1. Horn Relay
2. Fasten Seat Belt Relay
3. Seat belt warning delay switch
4. Power windows relay
i'll not argue the accuracy with anyone that actually takes the time to verify on a running stock vehicle. I've recently spent too much time in and under my dash to wanna venture there again anytime soon.
Accordingly, the answer to why your horn does not toot may be that you have not the correct relay installed.
I will also add a reminder that if the 'key in the ignition' chime is not heard, and the chime is present and installed, there is the matter of the small connector (two wires) at the ignition switch that is frequently disconnected by a previous owner to stop the annoying chiming. that big fat ugly looking thing in the middle of the mounting bracket sure looks like a 'key in the ignition' chime (buzzer).
