Hello,
I have a 79 spider and have replaced the hazard light switch(was bad) and now when I hit the left turn signal
all turn signals come on as well as when I hit the right turn signal. no matter what both sides come on. First I thought
it was a the flasher relay (still not so sure it isnt).... Any Ideas of what I should be looking for? All actual lights light up fine as well.
Thanks
Phil

Re: Different turn signal problems
Sounds as if you put a wire in the wrong place. Are you sure you put it back together the same way you took it apart? Is the replacement new or used? If used is it any good? Do you have a wiring diagram? There are 4 sets of DPST contacts in that switch.
Re: Different turn signal problems
The switch itself is brand new, Im not quite for sure how I could put the switch in wrong with the connector the way it is, but with that being said I do not have a wiring diagram and i am not past taking the switch connector out and wiring it up manually. I am to the point with these turn signals to just take a baseball bat to them lol.

Re: Different turn signal problems
If you have a stock new switch and the wiring is a factory, with an unaltered connector you shouldn't have an issue with the wiring. You may have a switch. Do you have a continuity tester? I can Get it scanned (don't have a scanner) and email it to you. The best way would be to send me your email address via private message.phil wrote:The switch itself is brand new, Im not quite for sure how I could put the switch in wrong with the connector the way it is, but with that being said I do not have a wiring diagram and i am not past taking the switch connector out and wiring it up manually. Re: Different turn signal problems
well everything I could find wire wise is all ok such as grounds and such. Let's for one say that the hazard switch(which is new) and all wires are fine, Do you know of any reason why this would be happening, I do notice though that when I hit the switch for the right turn signals, right comes on nice and bright but the left when they come on are dim same way with vice versa. Also I did notice today that the license plate lights both flash when I turn either signal on.....

Re: Different turn signal problems
If you replaced the flasher unit with a brand X aftermarket one, the posts dont perform the same function and miswired could cause everything to flash at once. may want to look at that.
Re: Different turn signal problems
I completely agree with you on that so I also tried to manually with hazard switch unplugged hooking a jumper to the left side and right side but yet still does same thing even bypassing the hazard switch... both sides still come on

Re: Different turn signal problems
If your rear marker lights flash when the signals flash I think the ground for the rear lights is bad. I would remake that ground to a known good point. I think the battery is in the trunk of your car. The battery negative connection at the chasssis is a good ground to use for the light ground.

Re: Different turn signal problems
I had the same prob, I had to run new ground wire's from each tail light pod. took 3in of wire and spliced it in to the black wire's on each side and made new ground point's in trunk. hope this help's.

Re: Different turn signal problems
Before making new grounds try cleaning the grounding points with a little sandpaper/wirebrush and use a little dialectric grease. These grounds create a ton of issues that often disappear when cleaned. new grounds work as well and I've done that a couple times. For example, I set up new grounds for the headlights when i installed the headlight relay kit and all is awesome now.

Re: Different turn signal problems
Before you replaced the Emergency flasher switch was everything working correctly? With all the lights flashing and some flashing dim, it has to be bad grounds or a defective or the wrong flasher. I thought you said it was for a VOVO, but it's the same. I would remove it and with the wiring diagram check for continuity between all the all terminals in on and off position. It could be cross feeding because it is not the same as the original internally. When you get lamps that are dim it is usually poor grounds. find.

I have a 1976 124 and was driving and the car died. It turns over but does not fire.I thought it might be the coil so I replaced it but still nothing i put a online tester on the plugs but see no spark. Anyone know what it could be. I am new at this so I hope it's a simple fix.

Dardy123, you may not get a response on the end of a turn signal thread. You may want to start a new post in electrical.
