Passenger door latch stuck in down position

Post by crutdresser »

While putting in a new outside door handle the part of the door that latches it got stuck in the down position. What do you push to release it? Don't want to break anything. The outside handle is not on ..waiting for a new lock cylinder.. tried to do it with inside handle. Won't budge...must be something on inside I can push to release .just can't figure it out. Help please!!!

Try to push the latch open while pulling up on the handle. That should work.

Won't budge....I pushed in the inside handle like I would open the door and then tried to move the latch back to the straight across position so it could shut and no dice. Sucker wont budge at all

Thanks Dennis...I am so stupid... the latch isn't straight across.... its kind of a downward angle and the door shuts fine.... I looked at the other door...duh! Feel so dumb!!
