I am getting ready to reinstall the engine on my 1974 and am running up against the shortcomings of my disassembly recordkeeping. Does anyone know what these two connectors attach to (the two hanging in front of the steering idler)? They originate roughly behind the coolant overflow tank, and I apparently do not have any pictures with them connected.
Thanks ahead of time for any help you can provide.

Re: What are these wires?
What color are they?
Possibly washer pump? Check the colors on a wiring diagram.

Re: What are these wires?
Hi Csaba,
I've been scouring my wiring diagram with no luck (although as soon as I know what they are I'm sure they'll pop off the page at me).
The one with two wires appears to be two black wires (not much help on the wiring diagram!).
The one with a single wire appears to be blue with a black stripe.
Both were heavily covered in grime, and although I used Simple Green to try to clean them the colors are not guaranteed.
The washer pump is still hooked up, so I don't think they are for that.

Isn't that in the area where the ignition coil goes?

Re: What are these wires?
My coil is much further forward in the bay (and still wired up).
It has a brown wire going to the negative and a light blue/black going to the positive.
These don't appear to be related to the coil.

Re: What are these wires?
I have a 1975 and the two black wires are the ground for the wiper motor and the blue with black is the tac wire.

Re: What are these wires?
Those are the colors for my washer motor and coil. However both of those are hooked up and these connectors are still dangling free.
Seems like a stumper. Unfortunately they go into a bundle, so will be hard to trace. I guess I have a project for this weekend.

Re: What are these wires?
If you look above the wires, next to the VIN tag, there is a bracket. This bracket looks a lot like the one used for the fast idle pushbutton. So that is a possibility, however on most Spiders this button is on the driver side inner fender.
Although I don't think a '74 would have it, that would also be the location for the right side underhood light. Check if the blue wire has voltage with the lights on.
