Is there a simple trick to this, or a tool that will make the task easier?
Yep... looks a little rounded :(

When I've done this (which is getting less frequent thankfully!) I normally use a straight file to put an edge on them, and then a pair of Mole Wrenches to turn them. (I'm not sure whether Mole Wrench is a term used in the US!... Locking Pliers might be the right term?).

Yes it's fiddly, but has always worked for me.

Thanks toplessexpat, I'll try that now. Im concerned that I wont have the leverage to turn it though. This thing is on there tight.

The wire connected to my oil pressure gauge was loose. Probably not the golden fix I'm looking for, but fixing this has got to help.

Replaced the flasher relay under my dash, popped a new fuse into slot I and everything seems to be working correctly, including my clock.

Been out for over an hour running "standard consumer road tests." Read, beating my car on the only twisties I know in Chicago...

So far, it's been fine but I intend to to complete a thorough inspection and upgrade anything questionable.

Thanks for all the help guys. You lead me to things I would not have thought to check. And in doing so, improved my Friday.

F Yeah.

If it's any comfort - you inspired me to go have a decent furtle around mine this pm - and I've now identified a whole host of remedial activity that needs to take place (bushings, engine mounts etc). The ray of sunshine was that my emerging fears over my gearbox were remedied by some judicious clutch adjustment.... the nice new ultra thick front mats took out about 1" of travel - so the sticky gearbox was a function of the clutch not being fully disengaged. Hooray!

After three months of running very well, sitting idle through the polar vortex and 10 minutes of idling in the driveway the car (1980 fi) has suddenly died again. This time, though, I believe there is a new hiss near the injection side f the engine bay. I could be wrong but I don't remember it being there before.

So far my list of things to check include:
1.) Check for voltage drop as Mark mentioned earlier in this thread
2.) Check the throttle position sensor and make sure it's in the correct position, although it was when the car went into hibernation so I'd assume it's still in the correct position now.
3.) Start running through trouble shooting guides

That exact scenario happened to me and it was the coil. I replaced the coil and voltage monitor behind it. Fired right up.

Yikes, I certainly hope it's not my coil. I'm using the Computronix unit Mark sells and would hate to think I've ruined it in less than two years.

How did you determine that your problem was the coil?
