Brake stop switch
My brake lights no longer come on when I press the brake pedal. Bulbs and fuses are fine. Has the switch above the brake pedal failed? Its difficult to really see it to troubleshoot given where it is positioned. When the pedal is pushed, it moves off of the switch, and thus connects the circuit to turn on the brake lights. But if there is a plunger or some type of spring loaded switch at the top, I'm not seeing anything move. Perhaps it has seized closed. Anyone ever take one of these apart? or should I just get a new one.....?

Re: Brake stop switch
It may be a simple adjustment issue. If not that, then your contacts may be dirty or fried. I've never had one apart because i've never had one fail.
Re: Brake stop switch
Bypass it and see if the stop light work.
May be is just matter of wires.

+1 on the wires. That's what went bad with mine. I just ran a new wire from switch to light, and they started working again.

Re: Brake stop switch
Thanks, Guys. Well, I got the old switch out, and replaced it with a new one. One of the easier 'fixes' I've ever done on the car! The switch is a simple plastic item with a spring-loaded button on it. I guess after a billion times being pressed it finally gave up. The plastic button piece was seized inside the housing. Took about 15 minutes to replace, after getting upside down under the dash..... !!
