Trunk Boards

Post by opus10583 »

Hi,

Does anyone know of a source for pre-cut Spider trunk boards?

Thanks,
Mark

I just was cleaning out the trunk in the car I just bought and it has all the boards intact. They are not very straight, but I am going to make some templates so I can make some new ones. I believe that they are made out of 3/16th hardboard.

I will be doing this in a couple of weeks, if you are interested I can send you a template of the boards so you can make some yourself.

Not too hard to do. A jigsaw is a must have.

Generally, I would recommend that we stay away from hardboard, and use a good plywood instead. hardboard is notoriously unstable to moisture, and does not take continued stress well, hence the sagging and warpage in the oem trunk boards. I used 3/8" cherry for mine (left over from a cabinet job, so the cost was irrelevant) but anything will do. 1/4" is a little too thin, 3/4" too thick, 1/2" is ok but I had the 3/8" and I think it is optimum thickness. Rigid but light enough to easily handle. A 4x4 sheet is 54 bucks, which is ok. http://boulterplywood.com/

Thanks Everyone!

I'd make them myself but; Apartment Dweller...

I've found someone who can make them up for me, and given my need think plywood is the cure: My 1100 won't fit in my 500, and is usually accompanied by half a case of shells.

Thanks again,
Mark
