windshield removal

Post by Red1976spider »

I'm trying to remove the complete windshield off from my 76 spider. I removed the 2 bolts on either side of the windshield along with all the accessories on it, it has become very loose, but yet it wont come off. Seems like something is still holding it in place. Can there be a screw holding it down someplace?

Need Help!!

on the later spiders, from what i remember 79 on there is a clamp under the cowl, maybe 2, that hold the gasket. in place, you can still remove the frame and glass , but have to loosen it and reseat when installing. i would bet that there is some kind of sealer holding the gasket in place and giving you some resistance

Just the "sealer" that is holding the bottom of the gasket to the car.

with the side screws off, as soon as you release what is holding the bottom part of the gasket, the windshield will fall in and crack on the gearshift. Ask me how i know this.
