Painting the engine bay, gotta move the electrics:

I'm intimidated by the thought of even touching all the sh!t on the left of my BC Coupe's engine bay.its a '72 US spec car with the 1608 motor. I can identify the horn relay, the coil, and the voltage regulator, and that's about it. I've removed the electrics for the factory carb, and I'll be using IDFs to carb it.

There's no emissions laws where I live, and I don't want to preserve anything that I don't need. What's the easiest way to move all this stuff out of the way for painting and still get the needed bits correctly back in place afterward? I'm not good at wiring, and diagrams make me dizzy to look at...

I removed most of that crap from my '72. I replaced the alternator with a later internal regulated model and moved the air horn stuff inside of the grill. I can't remember all of he details at the moment, it's been a while.

degrease all the wiring so you can see color. take pictures. lots of them. detail pix showing the connecting wires and where they hook up. full pix so you can see how it all lays out. you can draw a simple schematic so you can see where each set of wires comes out of the harness.
