Radio

Post by john3313 »

The guy that I bought the Spider from said that he put in a new radio, but it has never worked. I seem to remember seeing something on here regarding one wire versus two or something like that, but now I can't find it. He probably wired it wrong. Isn't the Spider different from other cars when it comes to the power for a radio?

all spiders that i know of featured a dealer installed radio and antenna. therefore, wiring may vary depending on who installed it previously. and yeah. if it doesn't work suspect faulty wiring and or a blown fuse.

Most radios now days require two 12v power supplies. One (usually yellow on the radio) has to be constant power, in other words, not through the ignition switch. It supplies power for the memory in the radio (clock and preset stations). The other 12v is "switched" power. This is usually a red wire on the radio. It is switched so that you don't accidentaly drain your battery by leaving the radio on. If both power supplies are not hooked up a lot of radios won't work.
