Dead Speedometer

Post by aleinos »

Title sums it up nicely. Just finished putting all the gauges back together and my speedometer (nor the odometer in it) work. The speedo cable seems to be the issue since its missing the pointy thing in the end where it meets the speedometer, but I would like to know if there is any way to check the gauge itself.

It is a mechanical device, so it might be possible to spin at a low speed and see if it reads. But, if you are saying that there is not a center core piece of cable coming out the end of the main speedo cable then it will never work. That is what spins and attaches in the speedometer.

So I would be looking at the cable before worrying on the speedo itself.
