Why 3 Door Jamb Switches on Diagrams?

Post by sclebo05 »

While tracing another issue, I noticed there are 3 door jamb switches on the Artigue diagram, page 10.

According to the diagram, the part numbers are 02212, 02213, 01117.

I found the door for the driver and passenger doors, where's the third?

Is it the trunk light located in the trunk on the wall that separates the trunk from rear seat/package shelf (driver side)? It's more of a spring contact making the connection to the little square light fixtures bulb then a true switch, believe it's a yellow wire feeding it.

I don't think so, that's called out on page 3, part number 02107 with a different symbol.

The trunk light is controlled by the light switch: when you turn the lights on, the trunk light comes on even when the trunk is closed.

I haven't looked ar Brad's wire diagram. My 81 has 3 switches for the courtesy light. One in each door jam and the other is the switch that is part of the light. The switch that is part of the light lets you turn on the light when the doors are closed.
Could that be your third light switch??

my '74 has 2 door jamb switches on the drivers side (one for light, one for key left in ignition), and of course one switch on the pass side
if you can't be an example, be a warning.

My '75 also has two switches on the driver's door jamb, but the key buzzer was liberated long before I came along.

Some have three, some have two. I don't know when this stopped, but my 1970 had three (two on the driver's door, one on the passenger door) and all of my CS and DS Spiders had two. Probably seat belt buzzer (driver's door), light (driver's door), and light (passenger door). DOT regs were all over the place in the 70's. There is also a chime that tells you the key is in when the door is open, maybe its a combo switch for that. I'd have to look at the diagrams.

Thanks for the responses. I definitely only have 2. Attached is the diagram showing 3 jamb switches.

@btoran - the bulb I pulled out of my trunk light appears to be an 'OSRAM 4W 12V', similar to here:
