Shreveport Louisiana

Hello all.

I have finally gotten my fiat home. She has been at the paint shop for two years now. Not that the paint job took that long but during that time, we moved and I built a shop to store her and my 66' mustang in. I bought the fiat five years ago for my wife and have worked on her (the fiat) now and then and have been a big fan of this site. There is a wealth of knowlege here and it is great to be able to tap into it.

Since she has been sitting for so long I am wondering what kind of bugs will surface after we start driving her some. I will let y'all know how it progresses. I will post some pics as soon as I figure out how.

Thanks again everyone.... this is really a GREAT site.

Howdy Hugh! Sounds like you'll be driving the Spider to those shrimp gumbo dinners now. Congratulations on getting your car back.
Upload your pics to one of the free photo sharing sites, copy the URL there, there should be an option for posting the photo to message boards, then insert the photo back here at the forum in the text composition box with a paste command. The command to insert is one of those in gray boxes above the text box.
Good luck.

after sitting that long, I'd suggest going through it pretty thoroughly, especially all of the fluids and rubber parts.

After she cranked I ran her down the road a short distance and everthing appeared OK so I took a chance last Saturday afternoon and drove her home (20 miles). Other than smoking from the stale gas all the guages read OK. Temp was good and oil pressure was below 20 but above 0. I figured once she got hot no telling what would begin to leak.

Oh BTW its crawfish season... Shreveport has a Mudbug Madness festival this weekend but the fiat is not quite ready for a public appearance just yet.

Thanks again.

Sounds like you are wel on your way. I am just getting startet. I had a new 124 in 1970 but had to sell it when I had sell it to pay for my son. I just bought a 1984 pipinfarina 2000. It is low milage and is in good mechanically but needs a bit of cosmetic tlc. I look forward to the process of fixing it up.

That's funny - I got my '75 124 Spider from my mother, who had been keeping it in Benton, LA right outside of Shreveport.

It's now living in Pennsylvania!

Very nice Hugh. I like the looks of your grill.
As you can see from my avatar, I sure would like some of those tall green leafy things in the background!
Good luck getting the car up to snuff.

What better folks to ask than you the experts. I have come to a place where I would like to sell my 72' Fiat and am not sure what she is truly worth in my region. The paint, top and seats are all in good shape. The rest of the interior needs some work. Mechanically she is pretty sound although a new carb with accelerator pump would be good as well as some attention to the running gear. The last time I took her out I was informed the running lights were not working but the headlights, turn signals and other items do. She has chrome bumpers, double hump hood and single wire alternator. As you can see by the earlier posts below. I have had her for a while now. The reason for parting ways is my now 16 yr old daughter is not interested in her so I would like to begin working on my 66' Mustang.

So with that, what is a fair price for a project that with a little effort could be a really fun car?

Thanks again,

Hugh

oooo thats a tuchie subject
some cars have had work done"not stock"
some are abused, ingnored or shine alot but rusted undersides

we go by insurance rates
400 up to 12000 for the right car and then theres th 85.5 year worth 40,000

your is nice but needs work so 3500
so fix it up!!
then 8000
when you do everything correct people arent sure youve done anything at all (futurama)

124JOE,

Thanks for your response. I am a good project starter but a poor finisher. I didn't quite follow the formula but you were a few hundred dollars higher than my estimate. I appreciate your feed back and will post the sale in the proper location. Thanks again.
